Moroccan phosphate giant OCP is partnering with the American agribusiness company CHS to build a phosphate fertilizer plant in Waggaman, Louisiana. With an investment of $450 million, the plant will have a production capacity of 1.3 million tons of fertilizers per year, including DAP and MAP, which are critically important for agriculture. Located near CF Industries' ammonia production facility, this project highlights a significant step in reducing fertilizer costs in the domestic market. The project, the first phosphate production plant in the U.S. in the past 42 years, demonstrates a commitment to agricultural self-sufficiency. Construction is expected to be completed within 24 months after obtaining all necessary permits.
