On November 26, the 2024 China-Pakistan Animal Feed, Fruit, and Vegetable Processing B2B Matchmaking Conference was successfully held at the Marriott Hotel in Beijing’s Hainan Plaza. This event was initiated by the Embassy of Pakistan in China and co-hosted by the Pakistan Investment Board, the China Agricultural International Cooperation Promotion Association, the China Grain Industry Association, and Guolian Co., Ltd.’s TDD-global. The conference aimed to build a bridge for deeper collaboration and exchanges between China and Pakistan in the agricultural sector.

Distinguished attendees included Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi; Deputy Director-General of the Ministry of Commerce’s Asia Department, Wang Qihui; Mayor of Weifang, Liu Jianjun; TDD’s Vice President and TDD-global’s General Manager, Daniel; TDD-global’s CTO, Wei Lifeng; and FDD’s Director of Cross-Border E-Commerce, Cui Dewang, among others.

Ambassador Khalil Hashmi delivered a welcoming speech, emphasizing Pakistan’s abundant resources and vast potential in the animal feed and fruit and vegetable processing industries. He noted the government’s numerous policies designed to attract foreign investment. The Ambassador further highlighted the strong bilateral relations between China and Pakistan and called for deeper collaboration to promote innovation, create shared value, and contribute to regional and global economic stability, thus paving the way for a lasting partnership and tangible outcomes. Deputy Director-General Wang Qihui of the Ministry of Commerce also praised the matchmaking event, viewing it as the beginning of a new chapter in deepening business ties and fostering mutually beneficial cooperation between Chinese and Pakistani enterprises.

Mayor Liu Jianjun of Weifang shared the city’s foundation for cooperation with Pakistan in the agricultural sector, citing Weifang’s large industrial scale, diverse product range, comprehensive industrial chains, and strong capacity for technological innovation. He expressed his enthusiasm for using this conference as an opportunity to advance higher-level and more profound exchanges, contributing to the “upgraded version” of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.

The highlight of the conference was a presentation by the Pakistan Investment Board on the investment potential within Pakistan’s animal feed, fruit, and vegetable processing sectors. They showcased the country's agricultural resources, investment environment, and market prospects, which sparked considerable interest among attendees. During the B2B matchmaking sessions, business representatives from both China and Pakistan engaged in extensive discussions, exploring opportunities for cooperation, and sharing resources and expertise. After a day of fruitful negotiations, 200 enterprises participated in the event, resulting in the signing of 12 memoranda of understanding and one letter of intent, with a total value of $25 million. This marks a significant step forward in the agricultural collaboration between the two nations.
